Product Description

This Ponaire Single Origin Lintong Coffee is Grade 1, Triple Picked from the Lake Toba Region in Northwest Sumatra, Indonesia.  Sumatra produces some of the most striking and recognizable coffee profiles in the world:  earthy and packed with cedar and spice.  Ponaire visited the Lintong region in 2014.  The region rises to a high plateau providing the altitude necessary for Arabica cultivation.  The processors of this speciality coffee use a unique production method that results in a very full body with a concentrated flavour with herbal nuances and a spicy finish.  Giling Basah (wet-hulled and sun dried) , the traditional Sumatran method of processing coffee, involves hulling the parchment off the bean at about 50 percent moisture content versus the 10-12 percent moisture content that is common in most other regions.  This unique process creates a distinctive flavour profile:  a full body, low acidity, spicy, herbal and chocolate notes and a richness that lingers to the end.

The beans are Grade 1 and triple picked by hand resulting in a very consistent clean cup that only includes perfectly ripe cherries.
