This year we have selected an Guatemalan Coffee from the Hueheuetenango region for our Ponaire Christmas Coffee 2020.

The name of this coffee is MAYA.  The Huehuetenango region is located in northwest Guatemala on the Mexican border. Its subsoil, composed only of limestone rocks, gives a unique profile characteristic of this region.

Coffee plantations in the Huehuetenango region can reach very high altitudes of up to 2,000 metres thanks to the hot winds arriving from the Tehuantepec plain in Mexico. Although the soil is calcareous and rocky, shade-grown crops ensure a quality production. Most producers process their coffee themselves. It is one of the best known and most pleasant regions to pronounce . It is a “land of the elders” that is very dependent on coffee and this producer is simply exceptional.

The coffee sack that the green beans come in has a bee on the front.  This farm keeps bees as well as growing coffee.

The coffee is fully washed.  The coffee has notes of coconut, macadamia, fresh almonds, citrus and chocolate.
